My roommate's dog is a 2-3 year old retriever/terrier mix and she has a pink lump on her right hind leg that I guess has been there for a week or so according to my roommate. She hasn't taken her to the vet, I'm guessing because she may fear the costs of bringing her dog in. She said that she believes it was a tick or flea bite that irritated her dog and she claims to have put some neosporin so that the dog wouldn't itch or bite the lump anymore. I have a 9 month old puppy which at the moment I keep away from the dog just in case what she has is contagious. I can't really advise her to go to the vet because she doesn't take advice very well, she gives off the vibe that I just need to back off, but I care for the dogs health. So, I was just wondering what I should do, what the lump could be, and if it would be very contagious to other dogs.

I think your kindness for both your puppy and your roommates dog is really great. I wish I knew more about what the Pink Lump is to help but unfortunately I'm not a Vet....

Personally, I think your doing the right thing in regards to being concerned. I personally don't think it's probably contagious but your Roommate should get it checked out if the PInk Lump has been there for longer than a week and it's not getting any better.

Does the lump have any fluid in it or is it just more of a "BITE" or bump of some sort? How big is the lump? Let me know and I'll ask a few friends and see if they can't login here and help out.

Indeed! Would love to hear how this turned out! Did the Lump go away or did you have to do a surgical procedure?
